women are not discriminated in Islam

lady muslimah

as i went through today’s paper,there was an issue brought up – misunderstanding of alQuran verse. many thought that Islam discriminates women and this issue has actually been questioned long ago.

(i once posted this in myspace.com yet as i am so much concerned of the issue i decided to repost here.)

Women are not discriminated in Islam

As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance): for Allah is Most High, Great (above you all).

( Annisa’ : 34 )

regarding the issue,there are numbers of fingers pointed at the islamic legislation and law pertaining to women, claiming that the muslim women (muslimah) are oppressed, discriminated against and controlled by their male counterparts,and alleging that islamic family law is bias towards women.

Allah the al-Mighthy says in the Qur’an:

” and for women are rights over men similar to those of men over women”.(al-Baqarah:228)

things need to be understood clearly.i didnt do detailed research on this but i did a lil reading and hope dis poor writing cud help people understand it better.. Qur’an teaches us dat women and men are all creatures of Allah, existing on a level of equal worth and value. in Islam, there’s absolutely no difference between men and women as far as their relationship to Allah is concerned, as both are promised the same reward for good conduct (pahala) and the same punishment for evil conduct (dosa)

“For Muslim men and women, for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give charity, for men and women who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah’s praise, for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward”.(al-Ahzab:35)

besides,we shud know that in certain matters, men’s superiority over women shud not b considered as an advantage to them. rather, it is a commitment and obligation.as mentioned in Qur’an;

“Men are the maintainers of women because of that excellence which Allah has given to some of them over others and because they spend out of their property”. (al-Nisaa:34)

no wonder para nabi and rasul are all selected among men as men have their own ability and strong power whereas women do not. while in a context of marriage, Islam allows the husband to beat his wife if only she doesnt obey him. (nusyuz) but it must be done based on levels. a wife 1st shud be given advised,then to be warned, and the last, shud be beaten, lightly. a husband MUST NOT beat on her face, ( doesnt mean to hurt ) .. see..?? how fair Islam is..

well,Allah knows best for any single thing He creates. thus the matter of women discrimination or inequality in Islam shud not be argued. its clearly proven that Islam does not discriminate women.both gender are equal.

bear in mind that islamic law is the BEST way of life…Islam is the only blessed religion ever. Islam is beautiful,Islam is perfect. Allahuakbar!~

  1. yerp i agreed. women are not discriminated in Islam, infact we got d same treatment as in men. being a man or a woman doesnt matter as long as u know how to show ur grateful to Allah s.w.t. after all we are all HE’s creature.
